Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled, reliable, and self-motivated Senior Animator, helping to create high-quality, realistic 3D character animations that bring our worlds and characters to life.
You will work closely with designers, artists, and engineers to ensure animations align seamlessly with gameplay and narrative vision, helping to develop our next-generation AAA title.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Create high quality mocap-driven realistic animations and contribute to achieving a satisfying gameplay feel.
- Collaborate with the animation leads, designers, technical animators, programmers and animation peers to deliver the best-in-class gameplay features.
- Prepare for and co-direct mocap shoots.
- Adapt to the style and constraints of the project - realistic with focus on character animation and open world.
- Foresee challenges and identify and suggest opportunities for improvements relating to animations, gameplay features and animation pipelines/workflows.
- Troubleshoot bugs with (implementation of) animations in game.
- Support animation leads and production by realistically estimating time required for carrying out tasks, determine scope and identify risks.
- Deliver content that matches the vision and constraints, as well as find solutions to any technical and creative challenges.
- Participate in knowledge sharing with other animators across all experience levels.
- Explore new tech and enhancements related to animation and game development.
- Collaborate with and provide feedback to animation co-dev / outsourcing partners.
Essential Skills, Attributes and Experience
- An animator passionate about working on industry-defining titles that push their abilities and define true-to-life characters.
- An animator with hands-on AAA game industry experience.
- Experience with (mocap-driven) gameplay animation pipelines - Mocap data, MotionBuilder (or Maya) and game engine (Unreal Engine preferred).
- Impressive animation skills demonstrated by animation reel, titles and previous projects.
- Solid experience working with mocap animation, preferably in game development.
- Strong creative and technical problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of classic animation principles, body mechanics, acting, posing, storytelling techniques and best practices for gameplay animations.
- Ability to work independently in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate across multiple locations effectively.
Highly Desirable
- Willingness to continually develop skills and self-educate in knowledge related to animations and gameplay systems.
- Keeping track of new trends and emerging practices in the animation and games industry.
