Develop:Brighton 2022 took place between Tuesday 12th and Thursday 14th July, and over the course of the week Hangar 13 could be found everywhere in Brighton. Not only did we throw the party of the expo to kick things off – at Horatio’s Bar on the pier – but Hangar 13 took over the main train station’s digital billboard, and our logos could be spotted throughout the city on buses, digital signposts and as attendees arrived at the venue. The real coup, though, was anticipating the heat-wave, with the Hangar 13 ice-cream truck and outdoor bar area together becoming something of an expo oasis.
We also got to meet and network with hundreds of industry partners old and new as well as potential future team-mates, and dozens of us were on the stand to answer questions about who we are as a studio, what we do and how we do it. We also took the opportunity to collaborate with three UK-based games industry charities, running a photobooth to raise funds and awareness for SpecialEffect, sharing our stand with Into Games, and throwing a ‘Cake & Fizz’ event with our friends at Women in Games. With the latter we also went in on commissioning a bespoke Develop:Brighton typographic illustration from London-based artist Harky, which was printed on banners, t-shirts and posters to raise awareness of the charity’s work.
